A bit of slap and tickle eh KatieKitten?
I'd better not because it was enjoying a bit of that with someone I shouldn't have that got the attention of the elders in the first place!
I'm married to her now and have never ever been happier.
What a sad life we led as Witto's even though as you said it was all for genuine reasons.

Invite
by BritBoy inwe had popped through our letterbox today the following: "you are cordially invited to attend the deliverance at hand district convention of jw's" at the national ice arena nottingham, uk.. now let me tell you, it is the tackiest flimsiest invite i ever did see.
the paper is so thin it's almost tissue paper.
the cover has three black & white pictures along the top which includes a picture of a rather healthy looking woman holding a child with the heading under it reading "poverty".

I agree with you Brit Boy and Katie - how gullible were we?
I too was born into it and I firmly believed it all for too many years.
What about when we had to deliver 100 or so tracts each to every house in our territory?
I remember doing that back in the '70s and my mum saying that this could be the final chance people have to choose to be on gods side!
Oh yeah, it's funny now but it wasn't then. -

Are you embarrassed?
by desib77 indoes anyone else find themselves embarrassed about their jw past?
i find that when people that know what i used to be ask me about it i am completely embarrassed by how foolish their beliefs sound especially things like the blood issue.
i can't stand when someone will say "why did you believe such and such....?

I got embarrassed recently when a client of mine saw me cross the road and nearly get run over.
She asked whether if I was knocked out cold and she went to the hospital with me she would be allowed to say that I could have blood.
I said that of course I would accept anything to enable me to stay alive. I then found it very hard to explain why for nearly 40 years I was so against blood transfusions.
I think that when you are a Witto you really are brainwashed, because they seem to imply that all hospitals are turning to non blood management and that they all realise how dangerous blood is. That is just not true.
I am vey embarrassed about virtually everything I learnt and did whilst I was a Witto. -

During what years did you consider it to be the time of the end?
by JH in.
my time of the end was from 1987 when i joined the jw's up to 1995 when the november watchtower changed the rules of the game, and redefined a generation.. so, when i refer to the time of the end, i think of the (1987-1995) period..

It started when I was very young as my parents continually told me the end was very close.
One day an elderly sister was cycling home when an amazingly dark cloud appeared on the horizon, this sister thought it was Armageddon starting - in fact it was just a thunderstorm!
My parents told me in 1973 when driving me to my new school that this would be my school until Armageddon! I believed them.
I would be a very mature student now wouldn't I? -

Depends what day it is!
Most days I think that the bible is just a collection of stories with some moral pointers.
Other days I believe that it maybe is Gods word because of the prophecies that have come true, but wait, I don't even believe in God any more!
Virtually all of the 'miracles' can be dispoven and things like the flood are so obviously exagerated.
As for the creation account - does anyone serioiusly believe it in the light of all the evidence around us in the form of the fossil record etc?
So no, I do not believe in the bible. -

Happy "Tax Freedom Day" fellow UK-ers
by Simon injune 3 marks the uk's tax freedom day, the date when uk workers officially stop earning for the governement and start working for themselves.
this year's tax freedom day, calculated by the adam smith institute, is the latest it has been for nearly two decades.
in 2005, the date fell on may 31 and the year before fell on may 27.. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/tax-advice/article.html?in_article_id=409575&in_page_id=11&ct=5.

Might help if I actually write some text before I press the submit post button!
Anyway, this Labour government we have has really shown it's true colours - it tried to portray itself as progressive and forward thinking, but instead we've gone back to the old 'tax and spend' policies of the past. Has all the extra billions spent (of our money) on the health service made that much difference, or all the money spent on transport etc etc etc?
The road system is worse than ever though fuel tax is the highest ever, we are getting more and more congested as a country especially where I live in the south east.
I pay well over 1,200 pounds in tax every month and then most things I buy have a 17.5% tax added on!
It's not how much you spend on something that determines how good it becomes - it's how well you spend the money that counts.
I would like a return to a government that lowers taxes which increases productivity, and a government that spends our money wisely - not just throwing money at every problem hoping that it will go away. Trouble is it isn't going to happen. -

I love my job in sales.
I love hitting those targets!
I love working on my own, not having to trudge into an office every day.
I love having to motivate myself every day - some days it's easier than others, hard when it's winter, dark and raining, easier in the summer.
I love the pay slips (sorry, 'checks' for our American colleagues).
I love beating my contemporaries in my company, (finding it tough this year though).
I love gatting a new 25k car every 3 years but I wish it was a 50k car and I got one every year!
I love not being greedy!
